Ubisoft may be working on four Assassin’s Creed games

Ubisoft is reportedly working on four more Assassin’s Creed games, which could bring the total number of new titles to eight.

According to the latest rumours on the internet, Ubisoft is putting all its eggs in one basket for the Assassin’s Creed franchise and is developing four more titles in addition to Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Codename Red, Codename Witch and Codename Jade.

Project Nexus is said to be a VR game that will be unveiled at E3 2023. But if the rumours are true, there’s more: Assassin’s Creed Codename Nebula, Raid and Echoes are also said to be in the pipeline. Each project is being developed by a different Ubisoft studio. For example, Project Nebula is to be developed at Ubisoft Sofia, which has already developed Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation and Assassin’s Creed Rogue.

Ubisoft Chengdu is working on Project Raid, a cooperative free-to-play game with up to four players and PvE. The game’s characters are all said to be from the Assassin’s Creed universe. According to other sources, Project Echoes will be developed at Ubisoft Annecy and will be a pure multiplayer game.

In addition, Ubisoft appears to be returning to its annual release cycle, with major titles said to be significantly different from previous ones. Rumour has it that the first Assassin’s Creed game, Mirage, will be released in August this year, followed by Assassin’s Creed Nexus shortly after (2023). Although these are tentative release dates, sources have revealed that Codename Red is scheduled for 2024, Assassin’s Creed Invictus for 2025 and Assassin’s Creed Witch for 2026.

It remains to be seen if there is any truth to these rumours.
