Stephanie Economou wins Grammy for a games soundtrack

Stephanie Economou has reached a career milestone by winning the first Grammy in the newly created category of Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media.

Stephanie is the composer behind the “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok” add-on and beat out stiff competition including Austin Wintory for “Aliens: Fireteam Elite,” Bear McCreary for “Call of Duty: Vanguard,” Richard Jacques for “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy” and Christopher Tin for “Old World.”

Stephanie is – besides her work on the “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok” addon – very successful as a film and series composer in Hollywood, for example for Netflix and Disney.

One of the other nominees, Christopher Tin, has already won a Grammy as the first composer for a piece from a video game a. In 2010, he won the Grammy for best instrumental arrangement for Baba Yetu from “Sid Meier’s Civilization 4.” Economou’s win in the new category proves that the world of video games and interactive media is gaining more recognition and appreciation.
