N64 Controller for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo is offering fans of the brand a retro treat – the popular Nintendo 64 controller for the Nintendo Switch.

The controller is now available for 49.99 US dollars on the official Nintendo website. In the past, the limited controllers were often sold out within a few hours. It is therefore advisable to react quickly if you want one. Important: The purchase of the controller is tied to a membership in the Nintendo Switch Online service. This means that you have to take out a subscription to be able to purchase the controller.

The Nintendo Switch Online service offers different subscription plans that start at $3.99 per month or $19.99 per year. The subscription offers access to online games, cloud storage support and a selection of classic NES and SNES games that can be played on the Nintendo Switch. To get the most out of the N64 controller, a Switch Online + Expansion Pass membership is required. This membership costs an additional 49.99 US dollars per year. In addition to N64 games, the pass also provides access to DLC for some popular Nintendo games as well as GameBoy Advance and Sega Genesis titles.

The re-release of the Nintendo 64 controller retains the distinctive design of the original, including the famous analogue stick that caused bloody palms in earlier Mario Party games. The controller is wireless and has a USB-C charging option. It also offers rumble functions, for which an additional rumble pack was needed at the time. The controller is compatible with all Nintendo Switch models and brings back memories of the 64-bit era of gaming in the 90s. Even if the trident-shaped design of the controller is not everyone’s cup of tea, there are some enthusiasts.
