Activision is once again creating excitement and anticipation among fans. The announcement of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” is now out and the release date has been set for 10 November this year.
So far, however, only a few details are known, apart from speculations circulating in the gaming community. Recently, the first trailer for the game was released. This trailer combines live action scenes with short glimpses of the gameplay. The most exciting reveal of the trailer is undoubtedly the return of an iconic villain of the Call of Duty series: Vladamir Makarov. Makarov was already featured in the first Modern Warfare trilogy and will now apparently also play a role in “Modern Warfare III”. Fans of the series in particular will remember his conspicuous presence, especially from 2011 when he appeared in Modern Warfare 3.
Interestingly, Makarov did not yet appear in the current re-release of the Modern Warfare trilogy. However, there were already hints of his possible return at the end of Modern Warfare 2’s campaign.
The trailer also contains hints of some elements of the campaign. Some sequences hint at a game environment that is strongly reminiscent of Verdansk – a well-known location from the Call of Duty war zone. In addition, there is a scene in the trailer that shows parallels to the “Turbulence” mission from the predecessor “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3”.
Activision has also confirmed that the official unveiling of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” is planned for 17 August. At that time, further details on the campaign’s plot and the supported platforms will presumably be announced. Whether glimpses of the multiplayer mode will also be revealed remains to be seen, as Activision usually makes these reveals separately in order to maintain excitement and raise the expectations of the gaming community. Fans of the Call of Duty series can be curious to see what awaits them in “Modern Warfare III”.
