This Is A True Story: Netflix Game wants to attract attention!

Netflix is supporting a good cause with its growing lineup of mobile games.

The streaming service has launched three games for Android and iOS, most notably This Is A True Story, which aims to raise awareness about the lack of clean drinking water in certain countries and areas of the world. This Is A True Story is an actually educational role-playing game in which you have to walk for miles in Africa – south of the Sahara – to find water. In doing so, you have to face poachers, (sand) storms and other dangers.

The reason for this commitment is simple – but enormously important. Because around 771 million people worldwide currently have no access to clean water. With this game, Netflix, Frosty Pop and Charity:Water want to draw the attention of the younger target group to this fact.

The other new games are less intense, but still interesting: Pik Pok brings Into the Dead 2: Unleashed, a sequel to its endless runner/shooter hybrid, and Shatter Remastered, a modernization of its brick-breaker/shoot-em-up crossover. For casual gamers, this is just the ticket. All three games are available on Android and iOS as of yesterday. Like the older Netflix games, the three new ones are free if you have a Netflix account.

Let’s hope that This Is A True Story in particular and its important message will get plenty of press and generate interest due to Netflix’s size.
