The Sims 4 is a life simulation game developed by Maxis that has gained a huge fan base since its release in 2014.
More than 70 million players have played The Sims 4 since the game was released in 2014. This makes it the most played game in the 23-year history of The Sims franchise.
The game was first released for PC, followed by a console release in 2017. Since the release of the free base game in October 2022, over 16 million new players have joined. Furthermore, the average number of users per week has increased by 53 per cent.
Interestingly, 75% of new players come from growth regions such as Brazil, France, Germany, the UK and Poland. This shows: The game has great appeal outside of North America as well.
In addition to the main game, The Sims 4 also has a thriving community for user-generated content. More than 7 million gallery downloads were recorded in the game last week. The latest expansion pack, Growing Together, was released in March and focuses on family dynamics, new life stages and character milestones.
Following the release of the expansion pack and the free update to the base game that includes the toddler life stage, players have created more than 8.6 million Sims children in the game, created 1.7 million new households in the San Sequoia world, and achieved 27.1 million milestones across all platforms – including 12.2 million toddler milestones.
