Schleswig-Holstein promotes young e-sports talent

The state of Schleswig-Holstein is looking for and supporting ten young talents for its own e-sports team at state level.

The state of Schleswig-Holstein and Edeka Nord have teamed up with the esports player foundation to find ten esports players and support them over the next twelve months. At least two of the scholarships are to be awarded to female talents – more are welcome. The goal of this support program is to form the official e-sports team of Schleswig-Holstein.

As part of the scholarship, the scholarship holders receive in-game coaching, sports medicine and sports psychology advice, media training, solid hardware equipment, nutritional advice and much more.

What you have to do to make the shortlist? Talent is being sought in the games “Fifa” and “League of Legends”, as these are the most played games in e-sports. The application phase is already in full swing. Interested people from Schleswig-Holstein can apply on this website. The deadline for this is May 06, 2022.

Kristina Herbst, State Secretary responsible at the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior:

“We accompany and promote the development of e-sports in Schleswig-Holstein as a state government in order to be able to ensure important social-ethical framework conditions for us. With the previous state funding of a total of 1.5 million euros for numerous e-sports projects, primarily broad-based sports structures have been created, from which performance-oriented e-sports can now grow The “E-Sport Team Schleswig-Holstein” is now – in conjunction with EDEKA Nord as well as the esports player foundation – professionally supported and accompanied in terms of media education, health promotion and sports aspects.”

Jörg Adami, Co-Founder of the esports player foundation adds:

“With the e-sports team Schleswig-Holstein, talents from the northernmost federal state get a unique chance to train in a highly professional environment and prepare for a career as an e-sports professional. We thank the state of Schleswig-Holstein and its partner EDEKA Nord for their commitment and hope that other German states will follow this example.”
