Netflix plans to release 40 new games this year and currently has 70 more games in development with various partners.
In addition, 16 game developers are currently working directly with Netflix on new games. Since launching its own games on the platform in November 2021, Netflix has added a total of 55 games. The streaming service has announced that it will continue to expand its portfolio to include Monument Valley games from Ustwo. Netflix is also working on its own cloud streaming technology to allow its members to play games on any device.
Netflix wants to offer a broad range of games in the medium term to truly reach all subscribers – regardless of whether they play regularly or not at all. While the focus is currently on mobile games, Netflix also plans to expand in other areas to provide a comprehensive offering to its members.
In partnership with Ubisoft, Netflix has already released two exclusive games, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home and Mighty Quest: Rogue Palace. The company has also announced a partnership with Super Evil Megacorp. The developer of Vainglory and Catalyst Black is currently working on an exclusive game based on an upcoming Netflix release.
According to Leanne Loombe, Vice President of External Games at Netflix, the company wants to offer a varied selection of games to appeal to every subscriber. To achieve this, Netflix works with both external developers and its own studios.
