Microsoft wants to buy Activision Blizzard?!
Already heard? Microsoft is looking to acquire publisher Activision Blizzard.
Just days after GTA mothership Take-Two Interactive threw $12 billion at mobile games publisher Zynga, Microsoft is now looking to take over Activision Blizzard – and with it brands from the likes of Call of Duty, Candy Crush Saga, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch and Tony Hawk. The Activision Blizzard company also includes well-known and in some cases legendary studios such as Blizzard Entertainment, Infinity Ward or Raven Software – and around 10,000 employees worldwide.
The takeover plans have already been officially confirmed by both parties. Accordingly, Microsoft will pay a total of $68.7 billion, becoming the world’s third-largest games manufacturer in one fell swoop behind Tencent and Sony Interactive, after the company took over games manufacturer Zenimax just last year. The latter is responsible for games such as Doom and Fallout.
According to Microsoft, the 25 million subscribers to the Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass flat-rate subscriptions can already look forward to the great Activision Blizzard games they will then have access to.
